Raleigh’s New Workplace For Startups Takes Flight

Local entrepreneurs team up to bring a 9,000 square foot coworking space to life on Fayetteville Street.

Raleigh, North Carolina — April 19, 2016 — The Nest, a new workplace for startups and creators in downtown Raleigh, has announced its grand opening on May 28, 2016 at 8:00pm. The Nest, centrally located at 414 Fayetteville Street, is a two floor, 9,000 square foot workspace that will establish a new home for startups. Once open, the space will invite all types of entrepreneurs, with a slight focus on hardware and physical-goods companies.

The Nest’s goal is to increase the amount of available month-to-month office space that is owned and managed by local Raleigh entrepreneurs.

The Nest is the product of a collaboration between founders Sean Newman Maroni and Michael Hobgood. Maroni and Hobgood are cofounders of Betabox, a fast growing Raleigh-based startup that manufactures and operates on-demand mobile technology labs.

“What is really important to us is the need to hold on to Raleigh’s unique startup culture as our community earns more and more national recognition as a top entrepreneurial hub,.” Maroni says of The Nest project.

“What we’re trying to do is create a space that inspires our members to make the community really their own. The Nest makes it easier to live and work all in downtown,” added Hobgood.

The Nest founders have collaborated with Bobby Lewis of Raleigh Development Company to develop The Nest in centrally located in downtown Raleigh next to the Sheraton Hotel. Local designer Tim Rosenberg of Quillorhas joined the team to build The Nest’s culture as Community Manager.

“Raleigh is becoming an exciting place for collaboration. I look forward to connecting The Nest with strong community partners. When people collaborate, they thrive,.” Rosenberg says of The Nest community.

The Nest adds to the portfolio of locally owned coworking options in Raleigh, including the Loading Dock, HQ Raleigh, the Raleigh Arts Collective, and BLDG Co. The Nest founders anticipate openly collaborating with these organizations to create a vibrant network of coworking options for Raleigh residents.

The Nest aims to offer benefits to its tenants beyond office space and Internet. These benefits include a business mentorship program, workshops, technology hackathons, and of course, free coffee. These services are made possible by The Nest’s service partners. To be included as a community partner, please contact Tim Rosenberg at tim@nestraleigh.com.
