Connect to Capital Associate

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Connect to Capital Associate at CED will contribute to the organization’s mission of fostering entrepreneurship by facilitating access to capital for startups and emerging businesses. With a focus on building relationships with sources of capital (i.e. venture capital funds, angel investors, etc.) and analyzing venture funding trends, this role requires a strong background in venture capital, startups, finance, consulting or a related field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Venture Funding Analysis: Monitor and analyze both local and national venture funding trends. Stay updated on industry reports, funding data, and investment patterns to provide insights and recommendations to the team to further drive CED thought leadership in the space, particularly with the annual Venture Report as well as periodic investor newsletter and blog postings.

Relationship Building: Cultivate and nurture relationships with venture capital firms, angel investors, corporate investors, and other funding sources. Act as a liaison between entrepreneurs and investors to facilitate connections and funding opportunities.

Startup Consulting: Deliver expert consultation to startups, advising on key areas including business planning, market entry, scalability, and investor relations to drive successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Database Management: Maintain and manage Salesforce databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on investors, entrepreneurs, funding rounds, and other relevant data. Utilize Salesforce to track and report on investor interactions and funding activities.

Event Coordination: Support the planning and execution of events, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at connecting entrepreneurs with potential investors, with particular focus around Venture Connect and the Investor Fly-In. Assist in organizing pitch sessions, demo days, and investor meetups and social gatherings.

Educational Initiatives: Contribute to educational content related to venture funding and investment readiness for entrepreneurs. Collaborate with the team to develop materials, workshops, or webinars focusing on fundraising strategies and investor relations.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the CED team, entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and promote the organization’s initiatives. Communicate funding opportunities, success stories, and relevant industry insights to the CED community.

PAST ADVENTURES INCLUDE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in venture capital, startups, finance, advisory or a related field, with a demonstrated understanding of investment processes and funding mechanisms.
  • Proven track record in building and managing relationships with investors, entrepreneurs, or relevant stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM software for database management and reporting purposes.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret funding trends and data, providing actionable insights.
