Why did you start your business in North Carolina?
Despite the sprawling structure of Charlotte as a city, including various neighborhoods, all with their own unique personalities - the city, its merchants and its population actively support local business and do their best to propel startups.
What is the best part about running your business in your community?
We have an office in Charlotte's new WeWork co-working location, 615 S. College Street, Charlotte, NC 28209. The office is situated in a way that makes it easy for us to get around the city with minimal commute time via car, but is also right on the light rail, making the morning commute far easier!
What do you believe your North Carolina community has that other startup hubs can’t offer?
The ability to be genuine. I've lived in New York City, and have read enough about Silicon Valley to know that launching a startup in either location adds the challenge of being a small fish in a massive pond. My hope is that Charlotte of course gets to the point where entrepreneurship is synonymous with the city name, but for now the local community is both willing to listen, and patient with startup founders.
In 3 words, how would you describe the entrepreneurial culture in NC?
Small. Growing. Enthusiastic.
