Dr. Moise Khayrallah to receive the 2019 Life Science Leadership Award at the CED Life Science Conference
RTP, NC, January 28, 2019 — The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Moise Khayrallah, Ph.D. will be presented with the Life Science Leadership Award at the 28th Annual CED Life Science Conference, to be held February 26-27 in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Khayrallah will be presented with the award at the Closing Lunch on February 27 which will be open to all registered attendees of the conference.
Dr. Khayrallah is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years invested in pharmaceutical drug development and biotechnology companies. Emergo Therapeutics is Dr. Khayrallah’s latest venture, his fifth startup in 12 years. Emergo focuses on the development of drugs which are meant to improve the function of the immune system where infectious disease is present. In addition, Dr. Khayrallah is Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder of QuatroBio, LLC, as well as Chairman of the Board of TARGET PharmaSolutions.
Prior to his current positions, Dr. Khayrallah co-founded Aerial BioPharma, LLC, which sold its major asset to Jazz Pharmaceuticals in 2014. He was a Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Neuronex, Inc., which developed treatments for certain seizure disorders. Dr. Khayrallah co-founded, served as President, and CEO of Addrenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which was acquired in 2009 by Shionogi & Co of Japan. He also founded a consulting company, Alius Pharma, LLC, which partnered with biotechnology companies to focus on cancer drug development. In 1999, Dr. Khayrallah served as the VP of Clinical Affairs at Cytran, Inc., and lead the product development team. Dr. Khayrallah also served in various positions at Lineberry, Burroughs Wellcome, and Glaxo Wellcome.
Dr. Khayrallah is actively involved in the entrepreneurial and social community in the Triangle. In 2014, he established the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies at North Carolina State University. In addition, Dr. Khayrallah is currently chair of Carolina Ballet and active with The North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Go Global NC, The Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network, the UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor’s Philanthropic Council, and the UNC School of Education Board of Visitors. Dr. Khayrallah is a former board member of CED and he actively supports NC cultural organizations.
Presented annually at the CED Life Science Conference, the Life Science Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on the life science community here in North Carolina.
