Why did you start your business in North Carolina?
There are few better areas in the country to raise a family AND you have a supportive, passionate, and growing startup community. Why would you go anywhere else?
What is the best part about running your business in your community?
I love how Raleigh is slowly "growing up" and enabling a vibrant startup community. Just over the last few years we've seen awesome #coworking spaces launch from HQ Raleigh (I am a member here), Nest, Loading Dock, to Industrious - and many others coming. I also work out of The Frontier with that team building a fantastic, central, and free option for early stage companies. What also excites me about Raleigh is its growing B-Corp community and the number of #impact organizations that are focused on making a difference and #givingback. You meet a lot of people that care beyond the bottom line and are willing to support nonlinear new ideas and companies.
What do you believe your North Carolina community has that other startup hubs can’t offer?
First and foremost, the quality of life is unbeatable - both personal and business "life." The greater Triangle is affordable, educated, collaborative, innovative, passionate, and talented. There is a lot of opportunity ahead of this area (transportation anyone?), but few areas have all right ingredients. We're pretty darn close in my opinion.
