Why did you start your business in North Carolina?
Real reason: I already lived here. Why am I happy I did that? It allows me to pursue life – both from a personal standpoint, as well as professional. I was also dumb-lucky to be here as entrepreneurship began to take off in the Triangle. There is something special about riding a wave at a time of formation rather than in the middle of an ongoing storm.
What is the best part about running your business in your community?
Durham is a central point of activity for entrepreneurship with CED, The Startup Factory, NC Idea, and the American Underground. It's all an amazing place for food, drinks, and culture.
What do you believe your North Carolina community has that other startup hubs can’t offer?
A lot of communities are trying to encourage entrepreneurship. What's unique here is that not only do we have the "right ingredients,” but we have organizations like CED and others that are actually trying recipes and actively working to foster the environment necessary for a startup hub to form.
In 3 words, how would you describe the entrepreneurial culture in NC?
