The Only Scorecard for Entrepreneurial Activity in North Carolina
As one of the few organizations in the US to compile data on technology-based entrepreneurs, and the only organization in the Southeast tracking entrepreneurial activity, CED produces a biannual Innovators Report, which is a must-read for investors, entrepreneurs, policy makers, researchers, economic development officials and the general public. The Innovators Report allows CED to measure the tremendous developments taking place in North Carolina’s entrepreneurial community. Gathering information from SEC Filings, media coverage, our partners and individual entrepreneurs, we are able to put forth relevant data that provides true insight into our burgeoning entrepreneurial hub in the Southeast.
Last year, 226 North Carolina companies in the technology, life science, advanced manufacturing and materials, and cleantech sectors collectively raised more than $622 million through equity investments, grants and awards. Additional remarkable activity included six IPOs and 59 mergers and acquisitions. Read the press release or download the full report here.
The Innovators Report is made possible by our partners, National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers and SBIR.gov, as well as through generous gifts to the CED Annual Fund.
