First Flight Companies Raise $20 Million in 2016 as First Flight continues to lead the way in helping “HIGH SCIENCE, HIGH IMPACT” start-ups.
Highlights include its LiftOff and WINGS [Workplace Immersion for New Generation Scientists] Programs. Both programs have received funding from the Federal Government as well as private organizations.
The most stunning news however was that companies resident at FFVC in 2016 raised in excess of $20 million in financing.
“Our programs look at our True North, what is good for our companies. 2016 proves our vision is correct: Create good programs, design them to be self-sustaining and always focus on your objective,” stated Andy Schwab, President of First Flight when speaking about the Annual Report. “2017 is shaping up very well and we plan redouble our efforts to help these companies grow and ultimately bring in more money creating additional jobs in the RTP region.”
Cat Lineberry, former President and Co-Founder of Lineberry Research Associates and a member of the FFVC Board said “As a new member of the Board of Directors, it is truly inspiring to be involved with an organization so committed to the success of area entrepreneurs. I believe the FFVC has a very well thought out vision and I look forward to the journey ahead.”
“First Flight companies receive a leg up in the highly challenging world of science-driven start-ups. This Annual Report is a testament to our success,” said Peter Ginsberg, First Flight Board member.
