CED Showcases Entrepreneurial Excellence Award Winners
Sold-Out Crowd Gathers for 21st Annual Awards on June 12 in Durham
June 12, 2007, Research Triangle Park, N.C. – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) honored local high-growth companies and entrepreneurs during the organization’s 21st annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards on June 12 at the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham, N.C. More than 400 people attended the sold-out celebration.
Below are the 2007 award winners:
- Entrepreneurial Excellence – Donald A. Holzworth, Constella Group, LLC
- Community Impact – Dr. Dennis Gillings and Joan Gillings, Quintiles Transnational Corp.
- Outstanding Service to Entrepreneurs – Merrill Mason, Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P.
- Deal of the Year (Public Company) – Embrex, Inc.
- Deal of the Year (Private Company) – Motricity, Inc.
- Growth Company of the Year – SciQuest, Inc.
- Technology of the Year – Aldagen, Inc.
- Spin-Out of the Year – Semprius, Inc.
- FastTrac Tech Company of the Year – PrepChamps, Inc.
- Charles Hamner Leadership Award – Congressman Bob Etheridge, Senator Gerry Hancock and Lieutenant Governor Bob Jordan (previously awarded at CED’s Biotech 2007 conference on May 14, 2007)
"This year’s award winners exemplify the true essence of entrepreneurship which supports the economy of our state," said CED President Monica Doss. “It is the hard work and dedication of entrepreneurs like them that ensure North Carolina’s place on the cutting-edge of innovation.”
