CED Confirms 17 More Presenting Companies for Venture 2007

CED Finalizes Showcase and Main Stage Presenters from Southeast & Mid-Atlantic; Early Stage Presenting Company Lineup Will Be Announced Soon

March 14, 2007, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has selected 17 additional showcase and main stage companies to present at Venture 2007. CED will announce the Venture 2007 early stage presenting company lineup in the coming weeks.

Scheduled for April 23-25 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club on the campus of Duke University in Durham, N.C, CED’s 24th annual Venture conference will highlight the top investment opportunities from across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.

The 17 main stage and showcase companies recently selected to present at CED’s Venture 2007 include the following:

  • Advanced Liquid Logic, Inc. (RTP, N.C. – www.liquid-logic.com) Advanced Liquid Logic has developed a nanoliter lab-on-a-chip powered by digital microfluidics.
  • AxoGen, Inc. (Alachua, Fla. – www.axogeninc.com) AxoGen provides surgeons with a biological solution to repair and regenerate peripheral nerves.
  • Broadwick Corporation (Durham, N.C. – www.broadwick.com) Broadwick develops online communication software.
  • ChannelAdvisor Corporation* (Morrisville, N.C. – www.channeladvisor.com) ChannelAdvisor provides online channel management software and services.
  • INI Power Systems Inc. (Morrisville, N.C. – www.inipower.com) INI Power Systems develops micro-fuel cells for portable power solutions.
  • Jackbe (Chevy Chase, Md. – www.jackbe.com) Jackbe provides software and services for enterprise Web 2.0 business applications.
  • Jacket Micro Devices, Inc. (Atlanta, Ga. – www.jacketmicro.com) Jacket Micro Devices provides RF modules for WLAN and WIMAX products.
  • Hyperbranch Medical Technology (Durham, N.C. – www.hyperbranch.com) Hyperbranch Medical Technology develops, manufactures and distributes surgical sealants.
  • Innerpulse, Inc.* (RTP, N.C. – www.inner-pulse.com) InnerPulse is developing unique technologies for the treatment of abnormal heart rhythms.
  • Metabolon, Inc. (Durham, N.C. – www.metabolon.com) Metabolon is a biomarker discovery and diagnostics company using metabolomics.
  • Metastatix, Inc. (Atlanta, Ga. – www.metastatix.com) Metatstatix is a biopharmaceutical company developing small-molecule drugs to treat cancer and HIV.
  • Mfg.com, Inc. (Atlanta, Ga. – www.mfg.com) Mfg.com is developing an online marketplace for the global manufacturing industry.
  • NovaMin Technology, Inc. (Alachua, Fla. – www.novamin.com) NovaMin Technology has developed a new active ingredient for oral care products.
  • Scentric, Inc. (Alpharetta, Ga. – www.scentric.com) Scentric provides universal data classification solutions.
  • SkyCross* (Viera, Fla. – www.skycross.com) SkyCross designs, develops and manufactures next-generation RF and antenna technology for mobile devices.
  • Unitrends (Columbia, S.C. – www.unitrends.com) Unitrends is developing a complete system enabling on/off-site recovery of files, systems and data.
  • Vitrue, Inc. (Atlanta, Ga. – www.vitrue.com) Vitrue has developed a user-created advertising platform.

During the first selection round in January, CED previously selected six other companies to participate in the conference:

The asterisk (*) beside ChannelAdvisor, SkyCross, InnerPulse and Tengion denotes that each is a Venture 2007 “Showcase Company,” specifically selected to highlight the strengths of the region. All 23 companies selected to date will all present on April 25th at Venture 2007.

“Venture 2007 will feature a strong lineup of high-growth companies from across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic,” said CED President Monica Doss. “The main stage and showcase presenter pool is innovative and diverse, representing the wide array of robust life science and technology companies in region.”

On April 24th, prior to the main stage and showcase presentations, Venture 2007 will feature 20-30 pre-seed angel deals and early stage startups that have yet to raise an institutional round of funding. CED will announce this group of early stage presenting companies in the coming weeks.
