Top Executives to Speak at CED’s Tech 2006

Business & Technology Experts from Texas Pacific Group, IBM and Salesforce.com Will Address Attendees at Oct. 11 Conference

July 31, 2006, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today confirmed three featured speakers for Tech 2006. David Bonderman, founder of Texas Pacific Group (TPG) and Newbridge Capital; Marc Lautenbach, General Manager of IBM Americas; and Jim Steele, President of Salesforce.com, will provide remarks at the conference on Oct. 11 at North Carolina State University’s McKimmon Center in Raleigh.

Bonderman serves as a principal and founding partner of both TPG and Newbridge Capital, which invest primarily in restructurings, recapitalizations and buyouts in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. TPG and its affiliates have under management more than $30 billion of equity capital and have investments with board representation in these companies.

Lautenbach leads the IBM sales and distribution operations in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Since July 2005, he has been responsible for sales and support of the full range of IBM's information technology products, services and solutions, generating $40 billion in revenue.

Steele, who has over 25 years of technology sales and executive management experience, oversees global sales at Salesforce.com and is charged with advancing the company's winning on-demand strategy, customer success and increasing the customer base. Steele joined Salesforce.com in October 2002 from Ariba Corporation, where he served as executive vice president of worldwide sales.

“We are fortunate to have three very experienced executives share their wealth of knowledge with us,” said Steve Nelson, co-chair of Tech 2006. “This year's Tech conference presents a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from true global thought leaders and gain valuable insights into important technology trends and issues.”

Beyond featured speakers, Tech 2006 will showcase innovative technology demos in a variety of sectors and stages from across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Tech 2006 will also include roundtable panel discussions led by technology and business experts. The conference will commence with the introduction of Bonderman by North Carolina State Treasurer Richard Moore.

Tech 2006 is co-chaired by Steve Nelson, managing director and partner with Wakefield Group and Chris Matton, partner with Kilpatrick Stockton.

Demo applications for Tech 2006 are now being accepted online at secure.cednc.org/conferences/tech/2006/demo_participants/application_to_demo/. The demo application deadline is August 4. Demo participant selection will be based on level of innovation and "demo-ability." For more information on the conference, visit www.cednc.org/tech/.
