CED Accepting Demo Applications for Tech 2006
Application Deadline is August 1; CED’s 16th Annual Conference to Showcase Emerging Technologies
June 29, 2006, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is now accepting technology demo applications for its 16th annual Tech 2006. Formerly known as InfoTech, the renamed Tech 2006 will expand beyond information technology to encompass emerging, as well as converging, technologies that are reshaping today’s industry and pushing it into new arenas. Tech 2006 demos and panel sessions will include sectors such as medical devices, new materials, clean technologies, robotics, nanotechnology and more; joining telecom, internet, software and hardware in exploring global entrepreneurial opportunities and markets.
Demo applications are now being accepted online at www.cednc.org/conferences/tech. The demo application deadline is August 1. Demo participant selection will be based on level of innovation and "demo-ability."
The technology demo room will showcase innovative technologies from entrepreneurial companies, university groups, corporations and research institutions from across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Scheduled for October 11 at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC, Tech 2006 presents an opportunity for technologists of any stage or size to display their innovations to investors, potential corporate and strategic partners, technology professionals, entrepreneurs and national and regional media.
Selected demo participants will be eligible for the 4th Annual People’s Choice Awards, which will be voted on by conference attendees at the October 11th event. Maverick Marketing will provide $7,500 in marketing communication services to the first place winner and $2,500 to the second place winner. All demo participants also receive a complementary customized banner stand designed by Exhibit Resources, which is not co-branded in any way.
“Tech 2006 aims to incite conversation about technologies and products that will change consumers’ way of life by using a range of session formats, from nationally prominent keynote speakers to smaller, interactive conversations,” said CED President Monica Doss.
Robert McKenzie, Chief Financial Officer, Field2Base, a Morrisville-based provider of mobile data communications system, said his company benefited greatly from participating in last year’s conference. “Demo'ing was a great opportunity for Field2Base to gain valuable exposure to potential customers and investors. The power of our product is best understood when seen in person and the conference provided an excellent venue for our product demonstrations. We were very pleased with the ROI for the time, money and energy spent preparing for InfoTech 2005.”
The Tech 2006 conference co-chairs are Chris Matton, a partner with Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP and Steve Nelson, Managing Director & Partner at Wakefield Group. Tech 2006’s Demo Recruitment and Selection Committee is chaired by Lister Delgado, Vice President at NC IDEA.
