CED and NCMD to Host Medical Device Forum
10/26 Program Will Showcase Six Area Medical Device Companies
October 20, 2005, Research Triangle Park, NC – The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) and the North Carolina Medical Device Organization (NCMD) will host a Medical Device Forum on October 26, 2005 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the NC Biotechnology Center in RTP.
The Forum will give participants the opportunity to see “Who's Who in North Carolina's Medical Device Industry” through a snapshot of several medical device companies, including Teleflex Medical, HyperBranch Medical Technology, Ablatrics, TranS1, CivaTech and Respirics.
“This forum is a natural extension of both organizations’ efforts to stimulate networking and communication among local and regional business leaders which will ultimately lead to the creation of new business opportunities and future investments,” said Rich Kingberg, senior vice president of Teleflex Medical and moderator of the Forum. “With such efforts as this Forum, the entire state of North Carolina, and the Triangle area in particular, will continue to be recognized as one of the emerging markets for the medical device industry.”
Other Forum presenters will include HyperBranch CEO Anthony Sherbondy, Ablatrics CEO John Funkhouser, TranS1 CEO Rick Randall, CivaTech President and Chairman Suzanne Babcock, and Respirics President and CEO Gilbert Mott, Jr.
“There are a large number of medical device companies in North Carolina that people either haven’t heard of or don’t know much about,” said Andrew DiMeo, executive director of NCMD. “In addition to the six companies who will be presenting at the Forum, this event will be a great opportunity for participants to learn more about North Carolina’s wide variety of medical device companies.”
