More information on the luncheon presenters:

  • Polarean (Durham, NC - www.polarean.com) - Polarean's technology platform makes it practical to non-invasively image the distribution and flow of gases with high-resolution and contrast. This capability, which is used in conjunction with existing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, promises to usher in a new standard of care in the diagnosis and monitoring of pulmonary diseases.
  • Polyglot Systems (Durham, NC - www.pgsi.com) - Polyglot develops and markets multilingual translation technology to the medical community, with an initial focus on emergency departments. The company's ProLingua 24/7 product enables healthcare professionals to communicate immediately and accurately with non-English speaking patients. This portable tool is designed to minimize the effect of language barriers in the Emergency Department so that healthcare professionals can focus on what they do best - care for patients.

Brad Walters of Raleigh-based Academy Funds and Bud Whitmeyer of Raleigh-based Research Triangle Ventures will respond to the presenting entrepreneurs with questions, providing insight into what venture capitalists are looking for in investment opportunities. Corporate sponsor for the December luncheon event is Comerica Bank Technology and Life Sciences Division.

More than 30 companies have been Capital Connection luncheon presenters since 1998. Over 85% of those companies have subsequently raised equity capital. CED's Capital Connection Luncheon is part of CED's comprehensive Capital Connection mentoring programs that assist entrepreneurs at various stages, from idea to initial funding, by providing mentors and instruction. Capital Connection provides entrepreneurs with tools to evaluate their ideas, refine their business concepts, develop business plans and raise capital.
