CED's November Tech Forum Addresses Outsourcing
Nov. 19 Forum to Highlight Growing Role of Outsourcing Among Tech Companies
November 13, 2003, Research Triangle Park, NC — The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is presenting its November Technology Forum on a topic affecting more and more technology-based entrepreneurial companies - outsourcing. CED's November Technology Forum, “Outsourcing Strategies: Entrepreneurs Weigh Pros and Cons,” will be held Nov. 19 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the MCNC Building in the RTP.
Recent studies show that outsourcing will have a significant impact on technology companies in the future. Gartner Inc. reports that by 2004 an estimated 80% of CIOs will have marching orders to take some IT offshore. In addition, a study from AMR Research found that the number of IT companies that outsource will jump from 20% to 50% in three years.
In response to this growing impact of outsourcing, CED is presenting the November Technology Forum to provide insight into key trends with outsourcing.
“Everyone recognizes that outsourcing is an issue with significant ramifications for technology-based entrepreneurial companies,” said CED President Monica Doss. “CED's November Technology Forum will generate an interactive environment for learning more about important outsourcing topics.”
At CED's November Tech Forum, three executives from area companies will guide attendees through the dos and don'ts of outsourcing and discuss emerging outsourcing trends in the marketplace. The participating executives are Michael Munsch, COO, MercuryMD, Inc.; Gary Ban, COO, Summus, Inc.; and Timothy Hess, Founder, President and CEO, Serenus Technology Group.
Topics discussed at this forum will include the following:
- Pros and cons of outsourcing
- Identifying the best functional areas in your company to outsource and those to retain
- Different outsourcing models and strategies
- Hidden costs of outsourcing, cost-benefit analysis
- Selection and management of vendors
- Outsourcing locally versus internationally
Pre-registration for the November Technology Forum closes on Friday, Nov. 14. On-site registration will be available at MCNC. For general registration details, visit CED's calendar (www.cednc.org/cal) or contact Allison Strong (astrong@cednc.org, 919.549.7500 x119).
