CED Announces Three Demo Company Awards at InfoTech 2002

Panelists will Select Top Demo Companies

July 9, 2002, Research Triangle Park, NC - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is doing something slightly different this year at its InfoTech 2002 conference. CED announces three new Demo Company awards to be given at InfoTech 2002 to the most outstanding demo companies. Top-notch panelists who are renowned investors, CIOs and journalists, will be the judges and will present their award after each panel.

The following awards will be given:

  • Investors' Choice
  • CIOs' Choice
  • Journalists' Choice

The panelists will be high-caliber. Last year's panelists included Mike Brooks, general partner, Venrock Associates; David Guzman, CIO, Owens & Minor; and Walt Mossberg, personal technology columnist, the Wall Street Journal.

"InfoTech 2002 is broadening its focus from young entrepreneurial companies to include the entire spectrum of entrepreneurial development from university labs to the innovative entrepreneurial development of larger companies," said Kevin Flynn, partner at Daniels & Daniels and Selection Committee chair. "Historically, the added exposure from participating in the demo room has been a great boost for young companies. This year, we have the added benefit of review by industry leaders and analysts."

The final deadline for companies to apply to demo is July 11. Companies that demo will gain exposure among more than 800 investors, national and regional media, potential strategic partners and IT professionals.

Scheduled for October 29-30, 2002, in Research Triangle Park, InfoTech 2002 will continue a 12-year tradition of showcasing the best of North Carolina's multi-billion dollar IT industry, one of the leading regions in the United States.

In addition to company demos, the conference will include extensive networking opportunities, exciting featured speakers, and interesting panel sessions. For more information on applying to demo or general registration, visit www.cednc.org/infotech/2002.
