CED Selects Two Companies to Participate in STREAK Public Luncheon

February 10, 2000, Research Triangle Park, N.C. - The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) has selected Intronn and OpenVertical to present to potential investors at the Streak Quarterly Luncheon. The luncheon will be held February 24 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, RTP.

CED's STREAK program provides mentoring and exposure for early-stage companies seeking equity financing. The quarterly STREAK public luncheons give two of these companies an opportunity to present their businesses to a panel of investors and an audience filled with various members of the area's investment, professional and entrepreneurial communities. The luncheon also provides a networking opportunity for regional investors and entrepreneurs.

The companies selected are:

  • Intronn is a developer of a gene reprogramming technology. This technology has potential therapeutic applications for many diseases, including the initial therapeutic targets of Cystic Fibrosis, Prostate Cancer, and Human Papilloma Virus infections.
  • OpenVertical is a provider of business-to-business online marketplaces. The company offers a seller-side solution for enterprise businesses and dot-com start-ups, and a buyer side solution that connects buyers to marketplaces.

The Streak Quarterly Luncheon is the capstone event of Streak's monthly program, which assists early-stage companies in developing business strategies. The luncheon provides a unique opportunity to see early-stage companies present and be critiqued and provides an opportunity for networking among regional investors and entrepreneurs. The two companies will present to a panel of the following investors: John Ciannamea of Longleaf Capital out of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Steve Weinstein of Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds and April Young of Imperial Bank both out of Reston, Va.

Seating is limited for this event, and spots fill up quickly, so people interested in attending should register now. To learn more about the Streak program or to register, please visit http://www.cednc.org/programs/capital_connection/streak/.
