The Plan

Entrepreneurship from Innovation to Impact

In late 2000, CED initiated a strategic planning process to assess the Triangle's future for entrepreneurial growth and the challenges facing our companies and our communities. Entrepreneurs and civic leaders, technology innovators, business and public sector service providers, educators, and national industry leaders helped CED develop its Innovation to Impact program, which identifies the key elements necessary to elevate the Triangle to its next level of entrepreneurial success.

CED now embarks upon Innovation to Impact, our five-year undertaking that augments the region's rich opportunities and entrepreneurial impact. CED will raise $3 million to successfully implement this vision.

Concurrently, CED will continue to build its Endowment, launched in 1999, with pre-liquid stock pledges and cash gifts in order to ensure that the Triangle will continue to benefit from a rich entrepreneurial sector in perpetuity. The CED Endowment will double existing pledges by May 2002 creating $5 million in liquid assets by 2006, at which time interest on the principal will become available for entrepreneurial support programs.

Program expansion funding through the Innovation to Impact campaign $3 Million
Ongoing program support and revenues $7.5 Million
